Jan 2, run with Suka: Down into the canyon below the bridge, by the ice rink. Then a run up the canyon to the Los Alamos reservoir. It looked like a great trail to skijor, and very possibly dog mush. On the way back we saw a skier.

The Los Alamos trail system is something I never got to take advantage of last time we lived here (we were up in the Jemez mountains, and I definitely used the trails up there!). Exploring those with Suka has been a great start to trying to settle in. One Jan 1, we went up Quemazon trail a good way. Here are pictures:

We’re in our new place, and we’re enjoying having survived the move. The dogs have already figured out the doggy door into the backyard (wooohoo!) and we are making do with borrowed furniture and coffee maker (thanks Eric/Kristen and Lauren!!) and Dave Smith facilitated some xmas gift delivery (thanks!). We’re enjoying spicy food, and camping at coffee shops for internet–ours is supposed to be installed tomorrow. But entertainment? We’ve got plenty:
Packers, inspectors, dump runs, last days of school, flights, holiday break. And in the middle of it Aven sleeps the whole night through for the first time last night (9pm-8am!!). And she woke with a big smile for Carrie.
TWO MONTHS OLD! Hard to believe. She’s full of smiles and a great baby–sleeping 6+ hours once in a rare night!! We received the absolutely perfect card along with a fantastic dress for Aven:

Thanks to all our great friends–those who made it and those who couldn’t.
Torsten is loving the role of big brother (most of the time!). His new favorite pajamas are the “big brother” jammies that he got from Jill (thanks again!). Both Torsten and Aven are doing great! Here are a few photos from the last month or so.

Way back, over half of Aven’s life ago, Grams and Gramps came to meet her and help out. Gramps really went to town on the “projects list” and the new floors, fire detectors, etc, etc are great (THANKS!) and Grams sure did get in some good holding Aven time–thanks! Grams taught Torsten some knitting (and Kita wanted to learn!). And Torsten taught Grams about making paper airplanes. Matt had to run off to DC for a NOAA meeting, so Grams made that possible by helping Carrie out those days.
I have lots of blog updates half written on the laptop, and I’m intending to catch up this weekend. Lots has been going on and keeping us busy. Aven is great, Carrie is great, Torsten is great, Kita and Suka are great (a little under-exersized, they say), and Matt is great.
More soon, but here is Torsten enjoying a hot chocolate to tide you over!
